The Windhaven Chronicles: The Archbishop’s Amulet
“This is why I love fantasy so much. After readind a bunch of okay fantasy novels, a couple of good ones but nothing to get really excited about, I’ve rediscovered my passion thanks to this book. I’m so impressed, and so in love, I can’t begin to describe it. But I’ll try to give you a idea, if I can figure out where to start and how to do justice to this masterpiece.
The world-building is solid, believable and original (and scary sometimes)- there’re enough new elements to keep your interest, but not so many that you get confused and overwhelmed: a perfect balance.
As for the characters and their growth, I am so impressed and so in love. The genius is in how Caldane the main character is portrayed: we see the world through his eyes. Hes a young boy, already having experienced tragedy and sorrow and despair, that just wants to come back home even knowing he is the last of his people. You really feel for him and the friends he makes along his journey while trying to scape from the horror they have been taken to.
The writing style is smooth, the pacing just right. The first few chapters get you rightt into the story, and the prose isn’t cluttered with boring, irrelevant descriptions or pointless details but descriptive enough to give u a good picture of the scenes and situations. It’s a good size book with a good story, but so easy to read that it flys by.
The prose itself is engaging, often humorous, dense but not overly so, and never boring. Twist are a very común thing and you never know whats going to happend next wich keep you im your toes till the end.
I would totally recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy, but also to people who enjoy great stories told wonderfully well. As many non-fantasy readers loved other popular fantasy books they would also love this book. ” — Barbara Arrenz
“Artfully crafted imagery abounds throughout this fast paced, thrilling book. It is full of wonderful characters that invoke true emotions from the reader. It is an engaging story with fantastic world building. The story has many twists and turns, but is never confusing. It is very suspenseful and intense and I had to take short breaks from it just to get my pulse rate back down. Highly recommend and I hope there are more forthcoming! ” — MichelleH
“I have to first say, I am NOT a fan of this genre! I love classic science fiction, not magical fantasy stuff. I don’t watch Game of Thrones. Don’t like Lord of the Rings.
So, surprisingly, I enjoyed this book. It drew me in, made me want to keep reading, wanting to know what happens next. I cared for the characters who sbould be cared for, hated those who deserved hatred. It turned out to be an excellent exception to my dislike of the genre.
A few minor points. The description of how to build a disguised campfire was quite accurate. The speed that one could fashion a knife from a chuck of flint was inaccurately too fast. And no one, human or otherwise, should EVER eat squid stuffed with cheese!!” — David W. Cohen
The Windhaven Chronicles: Loathsome Tales of Vengeance and Freedom
“This book is one of the best anthologies I have read. It is a collection of short stories but altogether reads like a little miniseries. A very fun read.
Step into a world of magic, wicked sovereigns, assassins, and surprising twists. It intrigued me, even as it teased my curiosity. It left me wanting to read more. It is an ongoing tale of dark secrets, struggles of freedom and oppression, the desire for vengeance and about an evil that clings forcing decisions and responsibilities you don’t want to face. Destiny is not always fair, and survival can make you a monster.
I can’t wait to read more by this author. The story possibilities are very promising. Great voice and style. If you love dark fantasy, you will enjoy this one. I loved the ending. It was surprising, unique and a very compelling read. ” TheJadedKat Addicted to Kindle
“This book took me to a distant land and time where our world’s rules don’t apply, a place ruled by magic and sorcerers/sorceresses of great power and varying motivations. The writer creates it all so vividly in his telling of the story that you never doubt you are living in his world. I really liked the “hero’s” desire to make things right, his mysterious savage past, hinted at yet not quite revealed, his nostalgia for a life he long ago lost, his current quest. The hero’s first-person recounting of his story in a sardonic, drolly humorous style is hilarious while simultaneously compelling. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read fantasy and adventure, or simply to anyone who enjoys a good and rousing read with layered characters and ironic humor throughout. I need the next one! Now! YOU GOTTA READ THIS BOOK! ” — arbarbee
